Home > Services > Landscaping Service > Pine Straw Installation

Our installations are top notch! We not only spread your straw, but also curl and tuck the edges. Our crew is equipped with professional grade blowers and edging shovels for the professional and manicure like look your yard or business will be proud of.

Pine Straw is organic, sustainable, and renewable, natural. Our pine straw is fresh from nature with no added chemicals or “fillers”, unlike many types of wood mulch. We focus on getting you the cleanest and highest quality product possible.

Once the straw has been installed, it will remain in place even with high winds after settling. We recommend you to get new pine straw at least two times per year. You will see the straw start turning grey, this shows that decomposition is worked its way to the top layer. You can put out the straw more often if you are concern with aesthetics. A light fresh layer on top does a lot to change the look.

Why Use Pine Straw?

For those who aren’t big fans of mulch, pine straw is a very popular option as well. As with mulch, pine straw needles have many benefits which include:

Soil Enhancement The acidity of pine straw mulch is similar to that of rain water, which encourages the growth of acidic flowers, shrubs, trees, etc.

Nitrogen is released into the soil as the straw breaks down. This helps provide your plants with essential nutrients to grow. It great for acidic soil loving plants like rhododendron, blueberry, azalea and holly.

Air and Moisture pass freely to & from the soil beneath the straw (needles) allowing the soil to breathe in its natural fashion.

Mold and Fungus Prevention – pine straw reduces the possibility of problematic mold and fungus as a direct result of allowing moisture to move freely into and out of the soil that is covered by the pine straw.

Erosion Control Pine Straw greatly reduces the erosion of soil, particularly on sloped areas that receive consistent rain fall or irrigation.

Weed Suppression will be achieved naturally as sun light is effectively is blocked from the soil underneath the needles, while still allowing air and moisture to pass freely.

Environmentally Friendly Option Pine needles are harvested after they have fallen off the trees. No trees are damaged to produce or collect this product. By purchasing pine straw instead of mulch, you are saving money and a relief on your landscaping cost.

Natural Repellant Pine straw needles also serve as a natural repellent to unwanted pests in the garden. The slightly acidic smell and prickly texture deters voles, moles, slugs and even cats and dogs. When considering the type of mulch to use in your landscaping beds or gardens that contact directly up to houses, barns or other wooden structures, one should keep in mind that pine needles do not attract termites like some wood mulches.
